For the longest time, gravatar.com was having troubles serving up the thousands of icon requests from blogs around the world, but it appears that — for now at least — they’re back up and running at full speed. I’ve just re-enabled display of the icons on Command-Tab, and it doesn’t appear to incur much of a performance hit. I’m glad to see some other images around the place instead of the default Mac “shadowy figure” you get stuck with if you haven’t yet signed up for this great little service.
I signed up for a Gravatar a few months back, but then they had so many speed issues, I rarely saw it used. I wonder if mine will work… Only one way to find out.

A few weeks ago I signed up and uploaded my gravatars but when I try to attach them to my email, I get an esoteric application error:
“Change this error message for exceptions thrown outside of an action (like in Dispatcher setups or broken Ruby code) in public/500.html”
I emailed support but have never received a reply (it’s been over a week).
Could be bandwidth/financial problems. The site should have charged .99 a year or something to help defray expenses. I would have gladly paid a minimal fee.
